Hi. I'm Brett.
In the spring of 2022, I woke up in the middle of the night around 2 a.m. I had this idea that needed to be written down in order to get it out of my head. If I stayed in bed, I’d run the risk of forgetting it—like I had so many other story ideas.
So I carefully got out of bed, as not to wake my light-sleeper of a wife, Lesley, and went to my office.
It started with themes and a few objectives I wanted to write about. Then came the characters, the premise, and then the loose plot. And I mean loose.
Before I knew it, the sun was up, my wife’s alarm was going off, and I had written the first draft of the Introduction. Over the next three years I wrote the nine installments that will collectively make the first season of The Discovery & Development of Tandem Magic.
I started it as a fun exercise and a creative outlet, not really expecting to try and release it. But about halfway through I decided to see if other people might enjoy the story as well.
As I write this, I’m a few pages away from finishing Part 6.
It’s June 19th, 2025. And the project launches on August 1st.
I hope you enjoy these characters as much as I do.

Brett and Anne worked together for about five years in Nashville, TN, at an ad agency, both on the agency’s creative team. Now, Anne lives and works in Lafayette, IN, in marketing and communications for Purdue University’s Daniels School of Business. She loves a good story told in any form—from novels and essay collections to podcasts and poetry—and she is proud to have corrected all of Brett’s punctuation as he brought Tandem Magic to life.
